Cabernet Merlot 2010 – 95 Points
A more complex blend than the front label would suggest: a 48/41/6/5% blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec and petit verdot, matured for 18 months in French barriques (15% new). Has retained good colour, and has exemplary balance to its redcurrant and blackcurrant fruit, tannins and oak; the length and mouthfeel are also very good. Great value. Drink to 2030.
Sauvignon Blanc 2012 – 94 Points
Partial barrel fermentation has left an indelible mark on the wine, a specialty of Margaret River; that mark is mainly textural, and does not impinge on the mix of snow pea, passionfruit and citrus fruit on the long palate. Drink to 2015.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 – 94 Points
Bright and fragrant red fruit bouquet offering a suggestion of lavender and fine cedary oak notes; the palate is medium-bodied, fresh and focused and is ready to go now, although will age with grace over the medium term thanks to the fine tannins on the finish. Drink to 2018.
Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2012 – 93 Points
A 50/48/2% blend of semillon, sauvignon blanc and chardonnay, with 5% fermented in used French oak barriques with the aid of selected yeasts. Deliberately made in a ripe style, but without losing its freshness and zest; tropical, stone fruit and citrus nuances all coalesce. Drink to 2014.
Home Block Shiraz 2010 – 92 Points
Deep purple-garnet; dark and savoury on the bouquet, with toasty oak, anise, red and black fruits and ironstone minerality; the palate is firm, unevolved and muscular, loaded with chewy tannins, sage and mocha oak notes lingering on the finish. Drink to 2022.
Chardonnay 2011 – 90 Points
Mid-gold, green hue; ripe grapefruit, peach and fresh fig are offset by generous levels of toasty oak; the palate is toasty, fleshy and accessible with fresh acidity and certainly designed for immediate consumption. Drink to 2016.
94 Points for Forester Estate Chardonnay 2012
93 Points for Forester Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
90 Points for Forester Estate Shiraz 2010
